FORTHSKY Padrigao doesn't want to dwell on criticisms on his inclusion that led to the UAAP Board of Directors naming six players to the UAAP Season 81 juniors' basketball Mythical Team.
"Lahat naman kami naghirap para makarating kung nasaan kami," the Ateneo playmaker said.
Controversies arose from the first-of-its-kind move, with some pundits laughingly regarding the group as "Mythical Six" on a traditional five-on-five game.
Padrigao played for only eight games in the eliminations, missing the majority of the first round due to appendicitis.
The 5-foot-11 Blue Eaglet eventually got his spot on a tie with Adamson slasher Joem Sabandal. They joined the list together with Season MVP Kai Sotto, FEU-Diliman sniper RJ Abarrientos and UST teammates Mark Nonoy and Bismarck Lina.
As head-scratcher of a decision as it was, Padrigao said that it doesn't diminish the efforts all six players gave throughout the season.
"Deserve naman namin eh, so kung yun naging desisyon, so be it," the Zamboangueno court general said.
Padrigao, though, hopes that next year, there won't be any more issues like this as he aims to play in all Ateneo games come UAAP Season 82.
"Siguro gagamitin ko siya as motivation come Season 82 kasi nga kumbaga, hindi full season ang nalaro ko this season. So I’m looking forward to Season 82 na sana 14 games akong lalaro na tuloy-tuloy," he said. Eugene Flores
