BARELY five months into the job, Anton Brodett has stepped down as the head coach of the juniors basketball team of the University of the East.
The 35-year-old mentor confirmed the news, saying he tendered his resignation on Wednesday although he refused to elaborate on his decision to part ways with the Junior Warriors a month before the season's start.
Sources, however, bared that Brodett does not se eye-to-eye with the top brass in the school's basketball program.
"I just want to thank our bosses in UE, boss Bong Tan, UE president Ester Albano-Garcia, sir [athletic director] Rod Roque, and coach Joe Silva for mentoring me when he was in UE," he said.
In his short stint at the helm for UE, Brodett led the squad to the semifinals of the 2019 PCABL Invitational Tournament, falling to Far Eastern University to settle for fourth place.
He has leaned on Jericho Montecalvo, CJ Austria, and Vehnjo Maximo to introduce a new era for the Junior Warriors.
Rob Labagala, Estong Ballesteros, and Paolo Romero remain in the coaching staff of UE's juniors team.
