ANTON Brodett is set to be named as the new head coach of the University of the East juniors basketball team.
The 35-year-old Brodett is poised to take over the Junior Warriors program, according to sources.
Brodett has been a part of coach Joe Silva's coaching staff when he took the helm for the Red Warriors last season.
He has also served as an assistant in NU for Eric Altamirano, in St. Benilde under Richard del Rosario, and concurrently serves as a deputy in La Salle Greenhills for Marvin Bienvenida.
Estong Ballesteros, Ferdinand Ali-Ali, and Domeng Uson will join him in the Junior Warriors bench.
Brodett will replace Florence Conlu at the helm, after UE finished seventh in the UAAP Season 81 juniors' basketball tournament.
The Junior Warriors collected a 2-12 win-loss record this past year, relying on guard Shane Dichoso and slotman Jesse Sullano.
Conlu amassed a 4-24 record in his two seasons in charge after taking over from Luis Palaganas.
The last time UE had a chance to make it to the Final Four in the high school division was in UAAP Season 70 back in 2007, where it lost to Nazareth School of National University in a fourth-place playoff.
Spin.ph sought comments from UE head of basketball operations Lawrence Chongson, but he neither confirmed nor denied about the matter.
