UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas coach Aldin Ayo was on hand on Saturday during the UAAP Season 80 juniors basketball games at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Ayo made his first public appearance as UST head coach on Saturday, and stayed on after the Tiger Cubs’ match against Ateneo.
The UST coach politely declined to be interviewed by reporters. According to a source, it is upon the orders of the UST Institute of Physical Education and Athletics.
Ayo began his work as UST coach on Thursday when he was formally introduced by the players at the Quadricentennial Pavilion, and conducted formal practices on Friday with the team.
After the game, Ayo was also seen talking to parents of several UST juniors players.
The Cubs’ CJ Cansino leads Most Valuable Player race midway through the season.
Cansino had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Tiger Cubs but shot 6-of-20 from the field against the unbeaten Ateneo squad.
