    Adamson Baby Falcons deal NU Bullpups first loss in UAAP Season 81

    ADAMSON pulled off the biggest upset in the UAAP Season 81 juniors basketball tournament, a 62-59 victory over erstwhile unbeaten Nazareth School of National University on Wednesday at Blue Eagle Gym.

    With the Bullpups fighting back and trimming the lead down to just one, 60-59, Adam Manlapaz stood tall for the Baby Falcons' defense, keeping last season's runner-up at bay as to score the upset.

    He blocked Terrence Fortea's potential go-ahead layup before rejecting Gerry Abadiano's triple which would have sent the game to overtime.

    Manlapaz collected 11 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks, while Joem Sabandal had a double-double performance for Adamson with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

    The Bullpups suffered their first defeat in six games, with Abadiano scoring 17 points as Fortea shot 4-of-23 from the field for 11 markers.

    Meanwhile, Kai Sotto remained a monster for Ateneo, notching 25 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks as the Blue Eaglets routed University of the East, 84-62.

    The Blue Eaglets grabbed a share of the top spot as they rose to 5-1 to tie NU once again at the pole position.

    Mike Flores paced the winless Junior Warriors (0-6) with 17 points.

    Far Eastern University-Diliman got back to its winning ways with a 102-72 trouncing of University of the Philippines Integrated School.

    Xyrus Torres once again waxed hot to tally 27 points powered by six treys, as RJ Abarrientos had 15 points, six rebounds and four assists.

    Bryan Sajonia also got 14 points, eight boards, two assists and two steals in an all-around outing to help the Baby Tamaraws improve to a 4-2 record.

    Allen Torres remained as the lone bright spot for the Junior Maroons with 23 points and nine rebounds as they fell to 0-6.

    University of Santo Tomas scored a big 63-55 win over De La Salle Zobel to force a tie at fifth place with 3-3 cards.

    Mark Nonoy led the Tiger Cubs with 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, with Bismarck Lina chipping in a double-double of 10 and 12.

    Lance Jomalesa steered the Junior Archers with 13 points and 12 rebounds in the losing effort.
