CENTRO Escolar University scored its fourth straight blowout win while Diliman College chalked up its first back-to-back wins in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League Season 3 on Thursday at the Olivarez College gym in Paranaque City.
Banking on the red-hot shooting of Pierce Tyron Chan and Rich Lorenz Guinitaran, the CEU Scorpions mauled the Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas Dolphins, 112-71, while the Diliman Blue Dragons waylaid the Lyceum-Batangas Pirates, 103-68.
Chan scored 18 points on 7 of 11 shooting as the Scorpions improved to 4-1.
Guinitaran added 17 points and Judelric Fuentes chipped in with 14.
The loss was PCU’s fifth in six games in the tournament backed by CaféFrance, Yakult, Gerry’s Grill, Hapee Toothpaste, MaxSell Power Tool and Tough Mama Home and Kitchen Appliances, Tanduay Athletics and Toyota Motor Philippines.
Congolese import Lucien Mulamba was the only double-digit scorer for PCU with 19 points aside from grabbing 13 boards.
Malick Maodo Diouf, CEU’s 6-foot-11 Senegalese center, had 11 points and 11 boards on top of six steals and three blocks.
The Blue Dragons leaned on the 27-point performance of Joseph Brutas to hike their record to 3-1. John Enriquez added 19 and Johniel Bauson scored 15.
