The National Basketball League-Pilipinas kicks off its 2023 Chairman’s Cup with an exciting clash between two Laguna teams at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex on Friday.
Tatak Gel Binan and Eridanus Sta. Rosa will headline the opening-day doubleheader at 7 p.m.
Seven-team cast
In the earlier matchup at 5 p.m., the Makati Circus Music Festival and Muntinlupa Chiefs will set the tone for the new conference which features seven teams.
Defending champions Taguig Generals, who secured the NBL Chairman’s Cup crown last year by defeating La Union Power, are aiming for a third consecutive title.
They previously triumphed in the NBL President’s Cup, the league's season-opening conference for homegrown talents, where they beat Luid Kapampangan.
Camsur Express and Zambales Eruption are also part of the competitive lineup at this conference. The tournament adopts an inter-intra format, with teams within their respective groups playing each other once and facing opponents from the other group twice.
Group A includes Makati, Zambales, and Muntinlupa, while Group B consists of Sta. Rosa, Camsur, Taguig, and Binan.
