TOKYO Dime and Discovery Perlas stamped their class early to gain automatic quarterfinal berths at Manila Hustle 3x3 Season 2 at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall on Saturday.
Led by Naoko Honda, Tokyo Dime swept Pool A with three huge victories.
The Japanese crew was on fire early on, routing Bluefire LPG, 22-11. After posting a close 15-14 win over Uratex Tibay, the Japanese humbled Jumpshot of Singapore, 21-13.
On the other hand, former UAAP MVPs Allana Lim and Grace Irebu were solid for Discovery Perlas to top Pool B with a 3-0 record in this tourney presented by Uratex and Smart.
The Philippine crew cruised to the Final Eight with a 21-16 win over Owls.EXE of Japan, a 21-12 humbling of Shiv Nadar School of India, and a 21-6 demolition of Unicle of Korea.
Meanwhile, moving on to the Round of 16 were Bluefire LPG (2-1) and Uratex Tibay (1-2) from Pool A, Shiv Nadar School (2-1), and Owls.EXE (1-2).
Bluefire LPG leaned on Camille Claro and Fina Tchuido to nab a 16-10 win over Jumpshot and a 16-11 whipping of Uratex Tibay.
SNS imposed its height over Unicle, 18-12, and Owls.EXE, 18-16.
Uratex Tibay, behind Afril Bernardino and Spanish star Ari Geli, earned its lone win over Jumpshot, 21-7, while Owls.EXE dominated Unicle, 21-4.
The meet has the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas as official technical partner, Seiko Prospex as official timekeeper, and B’lue as official hydration partner.
