TIKAS Kapampangan overwhelmed Sulong Zambales, 124-99, in the opener of the National Basketball League-Pilipinas (NBL) Season 2024 President’s Cup at the Subic Sports Complex.
Lhancer Khan had 27 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, and two steals, while Renniel Gomez had 26 points, six assists, and three steals for Tikas Kapampangan in the game where they led by as many as 27.
Miko Santos also had 24 points and seven rebounds for the Pampanga squad in an auspicious start to their campaign.
Allen Formera had 26 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals for Sulong Zambales, which will look to bounce back as it plays against Paranque Smile 360 on Friday in the resumption of President’s Cup action at the Jun Duenas Gym in Taguig City.
The Zambales-Paranaque match is at 5 p.m.
Paranaque Smile 360 is making its debut although the city once had a team in the Aces, who were the inaugural champions of the league in 2018.
Meanwhile, Taguig Generals open their bid for a fifth straight championship with a finals rematch against Camsur Express on Friday, 7 p.m.
The Generals copped the Chairman’s Cup title earlier this year against the Express during their best-of-five finals series.
