TIKAS Kapampangan overhauled an 18-point deficit to capture the National Basketball League-Pilipinas (NBL) Governors’ Cup title by beating Taguig Generals, 100-96, in Game 5 at the Hagonoy Sports Complex.
Jaspher Manalang won the Finals MVP award after contributing 19 points on 4-of-4 shooting from threes for Tikas Kapampangan, which came back from a 53-35 second-quarter deficit to capture the title on the road.

Tikas also went on a 9-0 run in the final moments of the game after being down, 90-87, with Jake Muñoz and Lhancer Khan scoring in that stretch.
Muñoz had 18 points and nine rebounds, Khan had 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field, and Jerico Isidro added 12 points for the Pampanga-based squad which won back-to-back games on their way to the championship of the homegrown basketball league.

Former PBA player Jeff Chan also captured his first title as a head coach in his first conference with Tikas Kapampangan at the expense of the Taguig Generals, whose title run of four straight championships ended with a loss in their homecourt.
The Generals lost despite a 33-point effort of Conference MVP LJ Mayo. Taguig also led, 2-1, in the best-of-five series but lost the last two matches including Game 4, 104-99, in Magalang, Pampanga last Friday.
Tikas Kapampangan also won Game 2 in double overtime, 122-118, last August 21 at the Far Eastern University-Colegio de Sebastian Gym.
