ZAMBOANGA Valientes cruised past Pola Pilipinas RPG, 98-88, in a battle between two Philippine teams in The Asian Tournament on Wednesday in Guandong, China.
Frankie Johnson topscored for the Valientes with 22 points on 5-of-12 shooting from three-point range, while import Malik Diouf imposed himself inside with 16 points and 20 rebounds.
Zamboanga native Mike Tolomia and Peter Alfaro also did their share as both finished with 11 points in the game where the Valientes led by as many as 52-17 in the second period.
The team owned by Junie Navarro evened its record at 2-2 in a tie with the Taipei Mustangs at second place in Group B.
The Mustangs lost to the Macau Black Bears in the other game, 77-72.
Pola Pilipinas RPG featuring actor Gerald Anderson, remained winless in four games in Group A.
