BATANGAS City played true to form before home fans on Thursday night.
The Athletics turned on the heat in the final quarter, using a crippling 21-4 run to put away an 81-69 win over Caloocan in the MPBL Datu Cup at the Batangas City Coliseum.
It was the second straight win by the Athletics, who improved to 4-5 while handing their victims a sixth straight loss and seventh overall.

Proof of Batangas City’s efficiency were its seven turnovers. In contrast, Caloocan turned the ball over 15 times and the Athletics were able to capitalize, scoring 17 points off their rival’s miscues.
Earlier, Rizal surprised Marikina with a relentless effort on the defensive end and pulled off a 75-69 triumph.
It was only the third win in 10 games for the Crusaders, who dealt the Shoemasters their fifth loss in in nine games.
Marco Balagtas came away with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Eric dela Cuesta chipped in 11 markers, the same output produced by Marvin Mercado for Rizal.
Marikina's loss spoiled another productive night for Erwin Sta. Maria, who led the scoring chores with 24 points, and JR Ng Sang, who had 11 points and 20 boards.
