TANDUAY, San Juan, and AMA Online Education won on opening day of the Filbasket Summer Championship at the San Jose Del Monte Sports Complex.
The Rum Masters beat the Nueva Ecija Capitals, 86-82, as the Knights won in blowout fashion over Malaysia-based KL Assel, 92-64, on Friday. AMA Online downed ICC Blue Hawks, 99-94, to also join the opening day winners.
Cedrick Ablaza had 31 points and seven rebounds as Tanduay got one over Nueva Ecija, whose core includes head coach Jerson Cabiltes and the players from AICC Manila which won the inaugural Filbasket tournament.
San Juan Knights of to strong start
Judel Fuentes had 17 points as the Knights won in blowout fashion after starting the game with nine straight points.
Luke Parcero scored 36 points and shot 12-of-19 from the field including five triples as the AMA Titans won the contest even after a similar 36-point effort from Jake Gaspay.
