TAGUIG captured its third straight title in the National Basketball League-Pilipinas, beating Camsur, 94-85, on Wednesday to sweep the Season 2023 Chairman’s Cup finals series at the Fuerte Sports Complex in Pili, Camarines Sur.
The Generals, aside from the ‘three-peat’, booked their fourth championship overall in the regional homegrown league, doing so on the road.
LJ Mayo claimed the Finals MVP following the Game Three that saw the Generals lead by as many as 24 points.
Dan Natividad had 21 points in Game Three, while Edziel Galoy chipped in 17 points for Taguig. Harvey Subrabas added 15 points and four steals, while Mayo had 11 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and three steals for the Generals.
Taguig won Games One and Two at home by the scores of 88-81 and 91-85 in matches played at the Jun Duenas Gym.
Verman Magpantay scored 20 points in Game Three for the Express, who finished second in their first-ever finals appearance in the league.
