Ex-pros Sunday Salvacion, Roger Yap lead way as Hobe routs young NU side in Republica Cup

Former PBA player Sunday Salvacion comes up with 17 points for Hobe Macway.

HOBE-Macway Travel beat National University, 79-69, on Sunday in its debut match in the Republica Cup 2016 at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center.

Sunday Salvacion had 17 points while fellow ex-pro Roger Yap added 12 markers as Hobe-Macway Travel led from the start to finish, taking a 41-28 advantage at halftime, in dispatching the young Bulldogs squad.

Meanwhile, Bright Akhuetie had 25 points including the basket that sent the game into overtime as Malolos Mighty beat Foton in overtime, 99-95.

The Perpetual Help standout scored a tip-in with 13 seconds left to tie the game at 90 before taking over in the extra session to give Malolos the win in its first outing.

Mikee Reyes hit a triple that put Foton ahead in regulation, 90-88. But Akhuetie scored off a miss by teammate Kevin Ferrer to tie the game in an exciting finish on front of a good-sized crowd.
