    Sep 7, 2012

THE Manuel L. Quezon University Stallions held their ground in the last two minutes to pull off a 79-75 win over Central Colleges of the Philippines Bobcats last Thursday in the 11th Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA) men’s basketball tournament at the CCP gymnasium in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Leonardo Tamayo shot 24 points, including two insurance charities in the last 8.5 seconds in the victory that allowed the Stallions to advance to the second and final phase of the stepladder semifinals.

The Stallions now move to a winner-take-all semis confrontation with the La Salle-Dasmarinas Patriots on Monday for the right to face Olivarez College Sea Lions in the finals.

The two teams clash at 1 p.m. at the Ugnayang La Salle gymnasium in Dasmarinas, Cavite in this cagefest supported by Mikasa and Molten Balls.

Windell Bumanglag contributed 18 points while Dave Torregoza fired 12 for the Stallions.
