    St. Jude College Cavite routs St. Joseph College Olongapo to clinch NBTC Division 2 semis spot

    ST. JUDE College Cavite completed the sweep of Group 1 of the SM NBTC National High School Championship presented by Freego elimination round after beating St. Joseph College Olongapo, 96-69, on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

    Bryan Limpangog had 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals for St. Jude, which ended the eliminations unbeaten in three matches to clinch a spot in the semifinal round.

    The Dasmariñas-based cagers broke the game wide open after limiting St. Joseph to just nine points in the first period.

    Kelly Gurtiza had 15 points, while Marjun Wahing contributed 11 markers for St. Jude, which plays in the semifinals on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

    “Hindi pa ‘to matatapos kasi kailangan natin tumahak one by one. Siyempre nangangarap rin sila. We will try our best,” said St. Jude coach Wilson Ang.

    St. Jude opened the competition by beating Mandaue, 90-59, before turning back Kidapawan, 59-41.

    In other Division 2 matches at the Palm Coast Marina gym in Paranaque City, Notre Dame of Midsayap Kidapawan beat St. Louis College Mandaue, 54-46, to finish Group 1 with a 2-1 win-loss record.

    Roland Fuerte had 13 points, while Kyneth Florendo and Lance Bigil had 11 and 10 points respectively for Notre Dame.

    Reigning champion De La Salle Lipa outclassed Langatian National High School Dipolog, 88-24. Riley Javier had 17 points, while Raphael Dimayuga churned in 16 points for La Salle Lipa, which is going for a sweep of Group 2 against sister school University of St. La Salle Bacolod as of posting time.
