Sherwin Lao scored 10 of his game-high 18 points in a furious fourth-quarter run as the Red Pikes completed a come-from-behind victory.

Meanwhile, CEU’s Cameroonian reinforcement Aristote Mutombo hit the game-winning basket with 1.8 seconds left, his only basket of the game, as the Scorpions completed a comeback from 12 points down to eliminate their Naascu rivals Phoenix.

No. 5 CEU battles top seed Sea Lions and No. 6 St. Dominic will take on No. 2 Wang's Ballclub.

Sea Lions and Wang's Balclub enjoy twice-to-beat advantages in the semis.

Norvee Monzon, John Sales and Marty Frani led the Red Pikes third-quarter rally, erasing a seven-point halftime deficit and taking a two-point lead, 47-45, entering the fourth.

Lao then hit six unanswered points in a 10-2 run in a span of two minutes in the fourth.

The Scorpions, which got a huge confidence boost with a third-place finish in the FilOil Flying V preseason tournament, came back from a double-digit deficit.

Fatima had a chance to salvage the game, but John Paul Pineda missed an open shot as time expired.

Erven Silverie topscored with 18 points, Kenneth de Leon added eight, and Sonny Saber had six for the Scorpions.

No player scored in double figures for Fatima, with Joseph Marquez finishing with nine points and Adrian Gallardo coming up with seven in their final game of the tournament supported by Smart Sports, Ironcon Builders, Dickies Underwear, PRC Couriers and Zucchero Cafe.
