ST. CLARE College ended its maiden Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup campaign on Wednesday with an 85-81 victory over Mapua at The Arena in San Juan.
Marte Gil and Jason Ibay had 17 points each to lead the Naascu side, which finished with a 2-4 win-loss record in their first-ever Filoil tournament appearance.
“Napakalaking bagay para sa amin ito,” said St. Clare coach Jino Manansala.
St. Clare got off to a good start, took a 25-14 first-quarter lead and withstood a late rally by the Cardinals.
“Last game na po namin kaya kailangan namin mag-focus. Lumalaban kami pero ang nangyayari, natatalo kami. Kaya binuhos na namin lahat,” said Gil.
Jam Jamito had 12 points and Robin Dulalia added 11 for the Saints, who will compete in the Naascu season set to open in late July.
Andrew Estrella had a game-high 29 points for the Cardinals, who finished their Filoil campaign with a 1-5 win-loss slate.
