Gilas Pilipinas vs Lithuania tuneup recap

Gilas Pilipinas continued to learn the hard way in its European training camp, falling to a depleted Lithuania, 90-80, in their tune-up game at the opponent’s turf in Kaunas.

Justin Brownlee scored 20 points while Jamie Malonzo added 14 points, but the Filipino dribblers still lost to a Lithuanian side that fielded just eight players and not a single NBA player.

Gilas welcomed back Ange Kouame to the fold, with the naturalized center contributing four points in less than seven minutes action.

Still, Gilas suffered its first defeat in its Lithuania camp - and third overall in the final buildup for the Fiba Basketball World Cup.

RJ Abarrientos moves from Korea to Japan

RJ Abarrientos is moving from Korea to Japan after joining the Shinshu Brave Warriors in the B.League.

Released by Korean Basketball League side Hyundai Mobis, the reigning KBL Rookie of the Year has found a new home in Japanese first division club Brave Warriors.

Meanwhile, the former FEU Tamaraw looks to revive Shinshu's title hopes after a 10th-place finish last season with a 29-30 win-loss record.

Abarrientos is the Brave Warriors’ second Filipino recruit after Matthew Aquino played for the squad.
