ANTIPOLO – Friday was a special day for Phoenix Pulse coach Louie Alas.

Aside from the Fuel Masters posting their fourth straight victory in the PBA Philippine Cup, Alas became a grandfather for the first time with the birth of Kamy, daughter of his eldest son and former Letran Knight Junjun Alas.

“At least, hindi na ako magdu-dumb bells. Eto na. Mas mabigat ‘to,” said Alas as he shared the joy of being a grandfather to reporters on Friday.

Alas said the baby was born around 2 a.m. on Friday, the same day Phoenix Pulse went up against Blackwater. What made him even happier was that the baby was a girl.

“Medyo excited kasi kahit alas-dos nanganak, pinuntahan namin agad. Ang maganda, babae. First girl,” said Alas, who has four sons.

Alas said he was still able to get some rest before heading to Antipolo for the game against Blackwater. But even though he is short on sleep, Alas said the joy of having his first grand daughter is priceless.

“Eto, hindi ko na didisiplinahin ‘to. Ang magdidisiplina, ‘yung magulang. Taga-spoil kami,” said Alas.
