SHABAZZ Muhammad returns to the country as he links up with Strong Group for the 2023 Dubai International Championship.
Shabazz Muhammad joins Strong Group
Coach Charles Tiu bared the development as the former San Miguel import arrived in the Philippines late Monday night with Nick Young.
"Shabazz is a dynamic scorer and we saw what he’s capable of first hand in the PBA. He’s a great addition to our team," he said ahead of the tilt which is set from Jan. 27 to Feb. 5.
Muhammad becomes the third former NBA first rounder to join the Jacob Lao-owned crew for the Dubai tourney after Young and Renaldo Balkman.
He last played for San Miguel in the 2021 PBA Governors' Cup, helping the Beermen reach the quarterfinals with his averages of 35.25 points, 18.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.0 block in four games.
Also part of the Philippine crew are naturalized center Ange Kouame, Fil-Am guard Sedrick Barefield, and locals Justine Baltazar, Will Gozum, BJ Andrade, and Inand Fornilos.
Strong Group is looking to replicate Mighty Sports' championship run in the same tourney back in 2020.
