THE Senate Advocates enhanced their title-retention bid in the Makabansa Basketball League after knockding out the Office of the President Kamao, 90-57, last Thursday at the Meralco gym.
Michael Dan Omega put up an all-around performance of eight points, 11 boards, five steals, three assists, and one block, while Reynaldo Malaga added 13 points, six rebounds as the Advocates remained unbeaten in four games to tighten their grip on the top spot in Group C.
The NLEX Road Movers are in second spot at 3-1, while the Kamao suffered their first loss to drop to 2-1. The DOE Energizers (2-2), DILG Visionaries (0-3), MMDA D Enforcers (0-4) complete bracket C.
The top four teams out of six squads from each group will advance to knockout round.
In Group A, the Meralco Linemen zapped the Comelec Sentinels, 101-84, last Tuesday to join the Advocates and Bracket B leader PLDT Digital as the remaining undefeated teams in Season 2 of the recreational tournament for government and private executives and employees.
The loss snapped the Sentinels’ two game-win streak to drop to second spot, while the Smart Dream Team (2-2), Justice League (2-3), House of Representatives Rulemakers (1-0), and the Ombudsman Tanodbayan Watchddogs (0-5) round out Group A.
PLDT, for its part, blasted the OSG Patriots, last Sunday, October 14, to make it a hat-trick of wins and stay on top of Group B where the PNP Peacekeepers (2-1), DENR Environmental Warriors (2-1), DOJ Avengers (1-2), OSG Patriots (1-2), and PSA Pakitang Gilas (0-3) follow suit.
