    Overseas-based squads vying in second Dreamers International 18U Challenge in Lucban

    THE second edition of the Dreamers International 18U Basketball Challenge is underway in Lucban, Quezon with the semifinals set to take place on Monday.

    Sixteen teams are vying for semifinal berths in the tournament that began last Friday at the Batis Aramin and Kamay Ni Hesus Covered Court. It is organized by the Pinoy Youth Dreamers.

    Vying in the tournament are international teams from Guam, United States, and Canada, whose Durham Crossover squad recently saw action in the NBTC National High School Championship.

    Group A is composed of Simon Sanchez, John F. Kennedy, Tayabas, and Rookies, while Group B has Canada, George Washington, PYD Blue, and Lucena Karis.

    Father Duenas, Okkodo, PYD White, and Mamba are in Group C, while PYD Red, Titan, Holy Rosary, and Mary Hill comprise Group D.

    PYD head Beaujing Acot thanked the support of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Smart, Regent, Starbread, Breadstory, Jaman, PP Busline Rain or Shine, Batis Aramin Hotel and Resort, Dymaxion Builders Incorporated, Buddy's Pancit Lucban, H+Autoworx, Xpress Printing, and People's General Insurance Corporation for making the tournament possible.

    The tournament is also supported by chairman Joselito Dela Merced and Josie Macapagal of Barangay San Antonio, Pasig City and Kelly Williams along with Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office headed by chairman Jose Jorge Corpuz and general manager Alexander Balutan.
