THE Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas will delay revealing the final lineup of the Philippine team for the 2015 Fiba-Asia Championship until Monday as it focuses efforts on promoting the Fiba 3x3 Manila Masters set August 1 and 2.
“I told our group that parausin muna natin ‘yung 3x3 hosting kesa matabunan ng kuwento tungkol sa Gilas,” said Barrios during Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum at the Shakey’s Malateu.
“Monday na tayo mag-aanunsyo tungkol sa line-up,” Barrios said.
The 3x3 event is set at Robinsons Place in Ermita.
A list of 26 players was submitted by Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tab Baldwin to the SBP for possible inclusion to this year’s Fiba-Asia Championship in Changsa, China, a qualifier for the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics.
Baldwin and SBP, however, have been tight-lipped on the line-up even as practice is expected to begin this week in preparation for the Fiba-Asia joust opening in September.
“Nagsimula sa 26 ‘yan. I prefer not to even look at it. I can’t even tell you kung nasa 15 ba. Definitely, it will be more than 12,” said Barrios.
