SAN Sebastian notched its first win in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup by overcoming College of Saint Benilde, 59-46, on Saturday at the San Juan Arena.
Michael Calisaan had 15 points while Alfren Gayosa, a transferee from University of Santo Tomas, added 14 points as the Stags rebounded from a loss to Far Eastern University in their league debut.
New SSC coach Egay Macaraya lauded the effort of his players in a pressure defense that forced the Blazers to miss all but five of their 24 shots in the first half.
“I want my players to learn the pressure of pressing the ball kasi maliliit kami,” said Macaraya. “Hopefully, ma-sustain namin kasi mahirap mag-press all the way.”
No one scored in double figures for the Blazers, who dropped to 0-2.
