SAN Juan marked a grand return to Philippine basketball after running through home team Pampanga, 93-70, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League on Wednesday at the Angeles University Foundation.
The Knights embarking on a huge assault in the middle quarters to take the fight out of the Lanterns for good.
Ex-pro John Wilson starred in that stretch and the Knights, coached by ex-San Juan guard Randy Alcantara, led by as many as 33 in the third quarter, 76-43, with 3:22 left in the period.
From there, it was all cruise control for the Knights.
Wilson finished with 20 points, going 4 for 7 from beyond the arc to lead all scorers, while CJ Isit had 14 points and four assists.
Larry Rodriguez added 12 points off the bench while rising star Mike Ayonayon added 10 points and three assists. All three came off the bench for the Knights.
Mac Cardona started for the Knights and finished with nine points in less than 15 minutes of action.
Allen Enriquez paced the Lanterns with 20 points and six boards while Michael Juico added 18.
