    Unbeaten San Beda topples Ateneo, hands quarterfinals berth to La Salle in Filoil Cup

    SAN Beda completed a sweep of the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup eliminations after toppling Ateneo, 82-67, on Friday.

    With the win, the Red Lions entered the quarterfinal round with an 8-0 win-loss record in Group A and eliminated the Blue Eagles from contention in the playoff phase.

    After beating La Salle last weekend, Ateneo (4-4) lost its final two games of the elimination round to miss the quarterfinal berth.

    La Salle (5-3), on the other hand, advances to the quarterfinal round as the fourth seed in Group A where the Green Archers will face Group A number one seed Far Eastern University on Wednesday.

    The Green Archers beat Letran earlier in the day to stay alive in the quarterfinals.

    Robert Bolick topscored for the Red Lions with 27 points, and made some crucial plays down the stretch that sealed the win for San Beda.

    With San Beda's lead down to 69-62 on a triple by Anton Asistio, Bolick sparked a 7-0 rally, the last one an assist pass to Eugene Toba with less than two minutes to play in the ballgame.

    Javee Mocon closed in on a double-double after finishing with nine points and 12 rebounds for the Red Lions.

    Raffy Verano had 12 points for the Blue Eagles.
