SAN Beda held off a Sean Manganti-powered Adamson fightback to advance to the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup semifinals following a 64-62 win on Thursday in San Juan.
Manganti scored 18 points in the final five minutes for the Falcons, but that wasn't enough as JV Mocon and Jomari Presbitero hit some crucial baskets and foul shots for the Red Lions to put away the Falcons.
Mocon put the Red Lions ahead with a three point play with 44.4 seconds left to break the deadlock and give his squad a 59-56 lead.
Mocon and Presbitero then drained five of the next free throws to answer to every Manganti triple.
"Well we know that Adamson is a solid team especially with their guys, Manganti scored three point shots, Ahanmisi makes those shots," said Red Lions head coach Boyet Fernandez.
"Just reminded the players that we know our gameplan. I hope we’ll be consistent on the things we’re doing," he added.
Robert Bolick led the way for the Red Lions with 23 points as Mocon had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Manganti finished with 20 points, six rebounds and six assists as Papi Sarr had 13 points and 12 boards in the loss for the Falcons.
The win allowed the Red Lions to set up an all NCAA semifinals against the College of St. Benilde Blazers on Friday.
