SAN Beda defeated Letran, 94-72, on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan to claim a share of the 2015 National Collegiate Championship crown.
In contrast to their thrilling NCAA Season 91 finals series, their NCC match wasn’t even close for the reigning PCCL champion Red Lions, thanks to a big first quarter that saw them take a 26-9 advantage.
The PCCL decision to name the two semifinals winners as champions helps San Beda remain champs and score a back-to-back of sorts.
Red Lions will share the title with the winner of the other semifinal between UAAP champion Far Eastern University and Cesafi titlist University of San Carlos.
Davon Potts had 11 points, while Donald Tankoua had nine points and 15 rebounds for the Red Lions, who led by as many as 30 points. The two was joined by Robert Bolick of San Beda, and Jeric Balanza and Rey Nambatac of Letran in the Mythical Five for the first championship game.
Balanza had 15 points while Nambatac added 10 for the Knights, who fell behind early and never recovered.
The Knights were coached by Glen Capacio, with Aldin Ayo, who led the team to the Season 91 title, now the head coach of La Salle.
