SAN Beda advanced to the quarterfinals of the 5th Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship MEC Networks Cup, beating Far Eastern University-Diliman, 73-65, on Sunday at the Chiang Kai Shek College gym.
Rob Nayve had 17 points while Joshua Tagala added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Red Cubs, who swept their two games in group play. San Beda beat Hope Christian High School, 80-72, in the opener on Saturday.
Adamson also made it to the quarterfinals, ripping St. Stephen’s High School, 122-41.
St. Stephen’s lost its two games in the preliminaries, allowing Mapua to gain the quarterfinals.
Frederic Antiporda had 21 points to show the way for the Baby Falcons, who will go for the sweep as they face NCAA champion Mapua for the No. 1 spot in Group D.
National University also claimed a quarterfinal spot, beating Manila Patriotic School, 90-61. Terrence Fortea had 22 points for the Bullpups, who will be joined by Arellano in the last eight.
La Salle Greenhills kept its quarterfinal hopes alive with a 74-53 win over De La Salle-Zobel.
NCAA Season 92 Most Valuable Player Troy Mallillin had 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Greenies.
