SAN Beda and Lyceum scored big wins to rise to the top of their respective groups in the 2019 Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup on Monday in San Juan.
The Red Lions used a huge second quarter run to score a 72-58 win over Arellano.
Donald Tankoua paced San Beda with 16 points and nine rebounds, as James Canlas scored 15.
Calvin Oftana registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards, while Clint Doliguez added 12 points to help the Red Lions improve to 4-0 in Group A.
Rence Alcoriza and Kent Salado both had 14 points for the Chiefs.
Arellano dropped to 1-5 in the summer tournament.
Meanwhile, Jayson David powered the Pirates to an 86-79 win over Jose Rizal University.
David had 16 points as Lyceum improved to 5-1 in Group B.
Jaycee Marcelino had 13 points, while Renzo Navarro and Yancy Remulla had nine apiece.
MJ Dela Virgen led the Heavy Bombers with 20 points, as rookie John Amores scored 18 for JRU, which fell to 1-4.
