SAN Beda moved into the finals of the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup unscathed after winning over Jose Rizal University, 80-64, on Friday.
The Red Lions kept their unbeaten slate to 10 games heading into the championship game on Sunday, where they will face either La Salle or Lyceum.
Robert Bolick finished with 22 points, three rebounds, and six assists for the Red Lions, while Arnaud Noah added 16 points and six rebounds but the rest of the team stepped up in the lopsided win.
AC Soberano scored 14 points after firing 4-of-5 from threes, and Javee Mocon hauled nine boards for Red Lions, who staved off repeated rallies by the Heavy Bombers in the second half en route to the win.
"I'm happy that we made it this far," said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez.
The Red Lions opened the third quarter with a 12-3 run to go ahead, 45-32, after taking a four-point lead halfway in the period.
Soberano started a 7-0 run with a triple and San Beda took a 55-44 lead after JRU was able to cut the deficit to four points.
Either way, Fernandez said La Salle and Lyceum will be a tough foe for the championship game, perhaps their final tune-up before the NCAA Season 93 on July 8.
"I will not choose a team because we will have a hard time," said Fernandez.
Erwin Grospe led the fight for JRU with 17 points, while Abdel Poutouochi added 12 points and seven rebounds, but Teytey Teodoro was limited to nine points on 4-of-13 from the field.
