SAN Beda may already be out of the playoff picture in the PlayTime Cares Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup, but the Red Lions are geared up for a fiery finale -- especially with who they're taking on to end their campaign.
Expect the boys of coach Yuri Escueta to come out and play like everything's on the line as they take on their playoff-bound rivals in the Letran Knights on Wednesday as the PlayTime Filoil Center.
“It's always easy to motivate the players. And of course, you have to bring your A-game," he said.
“We have to play with more pride and show yung style of basketball which is yung defensive identity natin."
Red Lions out to play spoilers
With a 4-4 slate, the Red Lions are already out of the running of the playoffs, but ending the preseason with a win over their biggest rivals -- and deniying them of a top spot in the NCAA bracket, is a consolation they'll certainly be taking.
And while it's essentially a no-bearing game for them, veteran forward Yukien Andrada knows that there's no such thing as a 'no-bearing' San Beda - Letran game.
It's such a heated rivalry that Andrada is already briefing their prized rookie in Janti Miller on what to expect against the Knights.
“Always and every time we play them, they're very physical,” Andrada said.
“Especially, you know, I've been telling Janti, because I already know that they'll probably focus on Janti."
