DONALD Tankoua had 21 points and 15 rebounds as San Beda edged Adamson, 86-81, on Thursday for its fifth consecutive win in the 2016 Filoil Flying V Tournament at the San Juan Arena.
AC Soberano added 10 points as the Red Lions improved their win-loss record to 5-1.
With Red Lions reserves playing in the fourth, Adamson rallied and moved within four, but San Beda coach Jamike Jarin didn’t flinch.
“I want to expose the players and this is the opportunity for them to experience such close games,” said Jarin.
“You are trying to build their character, 'yung fighting character, hindi mo naman masisimulate sa practice 'yun, masisimulate mo 'yun dito.”
A 21-9 third quarter run that pushed the Red Lions' lead to 69-58.
Adamson trimmed the deficit to four with a 21-13 rally but San Beda held on.
Robbie Manalang had 18 points and seven rebounds, while Papi Sarr had 16 points and 18 rebounds for Adamson, which dropped to 3-3.
