THE St. Claire College Saints, the Philippine Merchant Marine School Mariners, and the Rizal Technological University Blue Thunders smothered their respective foes Thursday at the San Andres gym in Malate, Manila.
The Saints, led by Mark Dulalia and Gil Marte, whipped the Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite Vanguards, 98-72, to stay on the winning track with the Mariners and the Blue Thunders in the 21st National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) basketball tournament.
Dulalia tallied 16 points, while Marte fired 15 for the Saints as they marched to their eight straight win.
The Saints took charge right away, with Dulalia scoring nine points as they grabbed a 26-15 lead in the first period.
Dan Reverente showed the way for the Mariners, who thrashed the La Salle-Dasmarinas Patriots, 83-59, even as Harold Lomtong led the RTU Blue Thunders to an 82-63 crushing of the Philippine School of Business Administration Jaguars.
Reverente banged in 17 points for the Mariners, who went on to notch their sixth win in eight outings, while Lomtong shot 17 points in powering the Blue Thunders to their fourth win in eight matches.
In women’s action, Jessa Tarroja made 30 points for the La Salle-Dasmarinas Lady Patriots, who tripped the RTU Lady Thunders, 69-68.
The Lady Patriots claimed their fourth victory in as many matches.
PMMS, with Emily Dumago notching 44 points, drubbed St. Claire, 75-72.
