Sabellina powers Mighty to first victory in three outings

Mclean Sabellina comes up with 31 points and 13 rebounds in his first game with Mighty Sports.

DEFENDING champion Mighty Sports picked up its first victory in three tries as it turned back Globalport, 100-89, Saturday in the 2013 Danny Espiritu Cup Basketball tournament at the EAC gym.

Lanky forward Mclean Sabellina, Mighty Sports' latest acquisition, exploded for 31 points and 13 rebounds.

Globalport was ahead 11-12 late in the first quarter but Edrick Ferrer scored a triple and Mighty never looked back from there, leading by as many as 14 points.

Nino Marquez added 17 points for Mighty Sports, while Ferrer had 14 points and Jeff Manuel added 13.

Erwin Sta. Maria registered a tournament-high 42 points for Globalport, but the Batang Pier remained winless in five matches.

Meanwhile, MOB Alliance joined Skyforce at the top spot with a 4-0 card after an 84-59 win over Expert Global Solutions.

MOB used a 21-0 blast in the third quarter to turned a four-point edge to a commanding 62-37 lead.

Richie Melencio led MOB with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Eric Sugitan had a double-double of 10 points and 11 boards.

EGS, whose only victory came from a forfeiture, dropped to 1-3.
