RONALD 'Ron' Harper Jr. is slated to see action in the SM-National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) National High School Championship.
The half-Filipino son of former Chicago Bulls cager Ron Harper is included in the lineup of Filamsports USA, one of the four international Fil-Foreign teams that will see action in next week’s NBTC National High School Championship.
League officials, however, said Harper Jr.’s NBTC stint is still up in the air as it will still depend on the result of the state championships in which he is currently playing for Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey.
Harper Jr. has averaged 9.8 points in 19 games for Don Bosco. Harper Jr. made three triples and finished with 20 points in Don Bosco’s recent game against Bergen Catholic.
His father won five NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers while mother Maria is a Filipina who also played NCAA Division 1 basketball.
Aside from Harper Jr.’s Filamsports, the other international teams who will be fielding Fil-foreign players are Camp David New Zealand, Durham Crossover Canada, and AusPinoy Australia.
The four squads will join reigning NBTC champion San Beda, NCAA champion Mapua, UAAP titlist Far Eastern University, and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in the Division 1 tournament that will begin on Monday, March 13.
