IF you want to talk to Philander Rodman these days, you'd most likely see him manning his burger stand at the heart of Angeles City.

The dishes on offer are no different from any other served in burger stands across the city, except for the buns which could be either red, yellow or green depending on the latest hair color of the owner's famous son -- basketball Hall of Famer and five-time NBA champion Dennis Rodman.

That's where the joint got its name: Rodman's Rainbow Obamaburgers.

Philander says the multi-colored buns were his way of honoring his son, with whom he had been long estranged until a memorable reunion on Wednesday night when Rodman.

The winner of five NBA titles--who had not seen his father in 42 years--acknowledged Philander's presence in the stands at the MOA Arena.

“Right now, I run this hamburger bun with the color of his hair. Not the meat but the hamburger buns,” said Philander, 71, who has been a resident of Angeles City since the seventies.

“I have jumbo buns and I have mini burgers with the colors red, yellow and green. I did it after him,” he added.

And it appears that the store is doing well, with the elder Rodman claiming that it is famous around the city.

“If you get lost, ask around and they know,” said Rodman.

Rodman, who played for five NBA teams but is best remembered for his time with the Chicago Bulls, made a name for himself not just for his rebounding and defensive prowess but also for his eccentric ways beginning with his tattoes and ever-changing hair color.

Aside from running the burger stand, Philander also intends to keep busy by publishing a book to supposedly clear his name over allegations he had abandoned his family, including Dennis.

“I want to get it straight. They say that I didn’t support my son but I have documents to prove that I supported him,” said Rodman.
