ROBERT Bolick put up an explosive performance as San Beda edged La Salle, 82-80, in the battle of collegiate champions in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup on Sunday in San Juan.

Playing against his former team, Bolick scattered 27 points including a couple of important baskets in the last two minutes.

The PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup MVP also had nine rebounds, six assists, and a steal against two turnovers for the Red Lions, who rolled to their third straight victory.

With 9.3 seconds to go and La Salle trailing by two, Aljun Melecio deliberately missed his second free throw to give them a chance to steal the game.

It was Davon Potts, though, who secured the rebound before Jomari Presibitero committed a five-second violation in the ensuing play.

That gave the Green Archers a glimmer of hope but Melecio rushed a three-pointer on the other end and Ricci Rivero botched a putback off that miss as time expired.

Potts, Mocon, and Ben Adamos added 11 points apiece for San Beda.

"So much pride at stake this game. Winning this game gave us a confidence booster going forward," said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez.

Ben Mbala paced La Salle with 20 points, eight rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks.

Melecio scored 19 markers, while Rivero added 15.
