RICCI Rivero will reunite with his former La Salle running partners Aljun Melecio and Andrei Caracut as they headline this year's 2019 Filoil Flying V Preseason All-Star Game on Friday.
Reigning UAAP MVP Bright Akhuetie and much-celebrated rookie Kobe Paras, both of University of the Philippines, will join the trio in the first five for the UAAP All-Stars as they take on their counterparts from the NCAA at 4 p.m. at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Also part of the UAAP selection are La Salle's Justine Baltazar, Adamson's Jerrick Ahanmisi, Simon Camacho and Jerom Lastimosa, FEU's L-Jay Gonzales and Ken Tuffin, UST's Mark Nonoy, and NU's feisty wingers Dave Ildefonso and John Lloyd Clemente.
As formidable as the UAAP squad is, the same couldn't be said of the NCAA All-Stars squad.
Lyceum's top gun Mike Nzeusseu join twins Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino in the starting lineup, as well as Arellano's Kent Salado.
Seldom-used forward Rommel Calahat of San Sebastian has been named in the first five, while Stags main men RK Ilagan and Allyn Bulanadi were not included in the NCAA All-Star team.
The substitutes for the NCAA squad are San Beda's James Canlas, Clint Doliguez and Donald Tankoua, Letran's Jerrick Balanza and Larry Muyang, Mapua's Warren Bonifacio and Laurenz Victoria, Jose Rizal's MJ Dela Virgen and EAC's JP Maguliano.
Adamson coach Franz Pumaren will call the shots for the UAAP All-Stars, while San Beda mentor Boyet Fernandez will man the sidelines for the NCAA All-Stars.
Aside from the exhibition duel between the two leagues, there will also be a Three-Point Shootout and Slam Dunk Competition starting at 2 p.m.
San Beda and Centro Escolar University will raise the curtain in the gameday as they face off at 11:45 a.m.
