He believes he can still improve, especially on defense.
"I don't think I've fully adapted to the Korean-style team defense yet," he said in an interview with Jumpball.
Despite Anyang KGC sitting at the top of the standings at 22-9, Abando said that the locals have been prodding him to step up.
"Moon Seong-gon and Yang Hee-jong always tells us a lot after our trainings so that we can adapt more to the team defense," he said.
One thing working for the Santo Tomas, Pangasinan native is the confidence he enjoys from coach Kim Sang-shik, with the mentor even noting, "It's okay if Abando shoots 10 shots and it all doesn't go in. I told him to pay more attention to defense."
Abando, for his part, appreciates the trust.
"The managers and coaches have always given me faith and my colleagues also give me faith. They give me confidence and that has allowed me to play good games," he said.
