RHENZ Abando is 'feeling better' after suffering multiple head, spine, and wrist injuries in an in-game horror fall during Anyang KGC's loss to Goyang Sono in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) late last month.

The Gilas Pilipinas high-flyer greeted Anyang and Filipino fans in a video message released by the club on its social media platforms, in which he gave an update on his ongoing recovery.

"I just wanna say 'hi' to JKJ fans and to my Filipino fans. Wishing you nothing but the best this year and thank you for supporting me," said Abando.
"Now, I feel better than the first day that I got injured. To all the fans who got worried about me, now I’m gonna tell you that I feel better. For the past two weeks, I’m getting better so please support our team and just wait for our comeback," he added.
Abando's collision with Goyang Sono import Chinanu Onuaku earned the ire of both Korean and Filipino fans, moreso after the league's decision to impose a mere 3 million won fine on Onuaku without any subsequent match suspensions.
Such a 'weak sanction' and the absence of a proper apology from Onuaku and his club led to a series of fan-led protests in front of the KBL headquarters in Seoul.
Moreover, Abando's camp is reportedly considering legal action against Onuaku which aims to hold the 27-year-old American import "legally responsible for the actions of causing injuries that could have a significant impact on the player's life."
Abando is expected to return to action in roughly a month's time, pending further medical assessments.
