MANILA and Pampanga scored contrasting wins on Wednesday night to boost their chances in the playoffs of the MPBL Datu Cup.

The Manila Stars started the third period with a 13-0 run to take control en route to a 92-73 rout of Mandaluyong.

Manila held Mandaluyong without a field goal for nearly eight minutes during that stretch, notching its eighth win in 10 games, third behind co-leaders Bataan and San Juan in the northern division.

Ray Parks had a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds for Mandaluyong, which suffered its second straight loss. The El Tigre were beaten by Basilan Steel last week and are now tied for fifth spot with the Bulacan Kuyas at 6-3.

Meanwhile, Pampanga scored a 97-94 win over Quezon City.

Juneric Baloria scored 35 points as Pampanga improved its win-loss record to 4-6.

Allen Enriquez contributed 21 markers and eight boards, while Marlon Gomez chipped in 11 and seven rebounds for Pampanga.
