REGION 4-A won the boys division and Region 10 ruled the girls' side in the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Under-16 Pambansang Tatluhan at Harrison Plaza in Manila.
Ley Acosta hit a two-pointer late in the game as Region 4-A beat Region 11, 21-16, for its third straight 3x3 title in the boys division. Jan Rae Atienza and Jan Derick Villarez are the other members of the team.
Region 10 won over Region 6, 16-6, to capture the girls division following the hot shooting of Charity Grace Gicana.
John Rey Pasaol, younger brother of University of the East star Alvin Pasaol, led the charge of Region 11 in the finals also was not enough.
“I think our winning three straight SBP Under-16 3x3 titles says we are doing something right in the region,” said Region 4-A basketball program official Oliver Bunyi. “The cooperation between our provincial partners has been incredible. This is for them.”
“We are thrilled by the participation we received from all our SBP members in our Pambansang Tatluhan program,” said SBP executive director Renauld “Sonny” Barrios. “The level of interest for both 3x3 grassroots and women’s basketball has greatly increased and we have seen this where the players are more skilled and the games, more competitive.”
