VETERAN James Regalado and rookie Rendell Senining combined to score 17 of the University of San Jose-Recoletos’ 21 points in the fourth period to help rally the Jaguars from a 12-point deficit and win, 70-65, over the University of Cebu Webmasters on Tuesday in the Cesafi men’s basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.
Regalado, a former University of the East Red Warrior, had 18 points, six rebounds and two assists .
Senining, USJ-R’s prized recruit from the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, finished with 15, while power forward Miguel Tabaloc added 14 points, six rebounds, four steals and two blocks.
Jan Auditor scored 11 of his 20 points in a third quarter run that put the Webmasters ahead, 49-37.
The Jaguars then turned their game up a notch and unleashed a 12-2 run capped by a fastbreak basket by Tabaloc that sliced the deficit down to two, 49-51, heading to the fourth. The loss dropped UC to 0-2.
