ZAMBOANGA defeated Imus, 83-78, on Monday for its fourth straight win in the MPBL Datu Cup in Bacoor, Cavite.
The Valientes moved to fifth place in the southern division with a 12-12 win-loss record, overtaking Bacoor, which bowed to General Santos City, 82-71.
Reed Juntilla bucked a slow start and scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half, while Harold Arboleda had 21 points and 10 rebounds.
General Santos City improved to 13-10 to strengthen its hold on the No. 4 spot behind Davao (19-5), Muntinlupa (14-9) and Batangas (14-10).
John Orbeta had 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors.
