SAN Beda stamped its class in the 3-on-3 setting as its Team A ruled the first Intercollegiate 3x3 Invitationals on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Music Hall.
Dan Sara, Robert Bolick, Donald Tankoua, and Davon Potts formed the championship squad that swept the Red Lions’ Team C composed of Arnaud Noah, Jeramer Cabanag, Jose Presibtero, and William Navarro in two games in an all-San Beda best-of-three finals.
Team A edged Team C, 11-9 in Game One before turning it a up a notch behind the hot shooting of Bolick in the next game to roll to a 22-8 victory.
“We were able to not only develop our individual skills, but also showed the people what we are really capable of inside the court as a team,” said Sara, who’s expected to skipper San Beda in the next NCAA season.
The Lions’ first team ended up going unbeaten in their 10 games in the maiden staging of the 3-on-3 tournament directed by amateur star Kiefer Ravena, organized by Rack Sports, and supported by Mighty Sports, Akari, Mall of Asia, MyPhone, Toby’s, Titan, The Frazzled Cook, Xavier, Ambucare, and Teravibe.
University of the East-A, led by Paul Varilla and Alvin Pasaol, settled for third place after dumping Far Eastern University-A, 21-14.
Potts, Noah, Alvin Pasaol of UE, and Jojo Trinidad of FEU composed the mythical team.
