THE Ballers Club Dasmariñas has expanded its reach with the formation of the Cavite Ballers team that will play in the third season of the National Basketball League (NBL).
Team manager Tutuy Perez said the squad previously known as the Dasmariñas Ballers Club has been renamed in order to reach out to more players in the province.
Ballers Club has been conducting free basketball clinics for players from different age groups in Dasmariñas City in the hope of producing PBA players in the future.
“Nung dumating ‘yung opportunity na makabuo kami ng Cavite Ballers, mas ginanahan kami kasi bukod sa mapapalawak namin ‘yung advocacy na nagmula sa Dasma na magturo ng basketball ng libre, makakabuo na din kami ng basketball team na puwede naming maisama ‘yung mga magagaling na player sa karatig bayan sa buong Cavite,” said Perez.
The Ballers finished runners-up to the Parañaque Aces in the inaugural season of the NBL with a team led by the league's first MVP John Cantimbuhan, but missed the playoffs in the second season just a few months ago.
The newly-named Cavite Ballers have started practicing in preparation for the coming Season 3 of the league set to begin on November 16 at the Filoil Flying V Centre following tryouts held in Dasmariñas and General Trias.
Perez said the Cavite Ballers are determined to make a mark once again in the league as well as in the province, hoping that their players will be discovered by teams in the big leagues.
