YOU think the winning margin in Gilas Pilipinas’ 147-40 victory over Myanmar at the start of the Southeast Asian Basketball Association Championship on Friday night was already wide?
Well, someone – a former national team standout – thought the Filipino dribblers would win by an even bigger margin.
Ranidel de Ocampo predicted the Gilas would beat the Burmese by 120 points as he replied to chief PBA statistician Fidel Mangonon III’s tweet on Friday morning asking netizens how many points the national team would beat Myanmar that night.
“120 points,” the TNT KaTropa star replied with a smiley emoticon.

His forecast gained strength as Gilas led by 81 points entering the fourth quarter, then Roger Pogoy scored the layup that gave them a 100-point lead with three minutes left, before the final buzzer sounded with the Philippines up by only 107 points.
“Hindi umabot sa prediction ko na 120 points. sayang 13pts short,” De Ocampo tweeted on his account @jutaca33 after the game.
Expect Gilas to try to win another blowout against Singapore on Saturday night.
